Brass Over Tea Kettle blew the doors off the Mansion on the last Saturday night in January, opening for funk lords Cabbage and capping off a wildly busy first month of 2026 in proper BOTK fashion. It was arctic outside, but inside the old Mansion? Absolutely molten. Brass everywhere. Joy at unsafe levels.
Hayley unleashed a brand-new cover of “25 or 6 to 4”, and the carpeted stage didn’t know what hit it. The room shook. The brass shimmered. Time became a suggestion. Then Cabbage hit the stage and funked the place into a sweaty, smiling heap for the rest of the night, much to the delight of a very loud and very happy crowd.
Photographer Virginia Maria Meeks was on hand to capture the chaos, snapping some killer new photos of both bands mid-groove, mid-grin, and mid-funk.
What’s next, Kettleheads? Your guess is as good as ours. We’ve got some marshmallows hovering over the fire—none fully ablaze just yet—but sparks are definitely flying.
Where should we roll the brass circus next?
