Last Saturday, the legendary Grad Club was positively humming as Brass over Tea Kettle and Cabbage joined forces for a night Kingston won’t soon forget. BOTK kicked things off with banger after brass-powered banger, serving up pure pop mischief from the very first note. The age-old mystery of “Who is the real Slim Shady?” was finally cracked wide open by none other than Hayley Miller, who entered her first rap battle and triumphed, first over the trombone, then the soprano sax, leaving both instruments thoroughly humbled.
The crowd erupted into a full-throttle Ghostbusters sing-along (because Halloween wasn't that long ago). Then Cabbage stormed the stage with a funk so potent it made the windows tremble. Horn lines ricocheted around the room like joyful sonic confetti.
And just when it seemed the night couldn’t get any juicier, both bands united for a roof-raising finale of “Party Bus,” sending the entire Grad Club into a jubilant frenzy. Rumour has it that anyone wandering campus afterward might have heard a lone tuba echoing through the twilight, gently serenading pedestrians as if to say, “You had to be there.”
