Brass over Tea Kettle lit up Daft Brewery once again this past Saturday with their second summer show—though the night almost started with a bang and a bust. In a dramatic twist, drummer Wayne and his entire drum kit were nearly stranded on Wolfe Island when the ferry went temporarily out of service. Thankfully, the ferry got back on "tack" just in time, and Wayne made it across the water with mere moments to spare.

With the crisis averted, the show went off without a hitch. The weather was perfect, the beer was frosty, and the music was a brass-soaked treat. The crowd was a whirlwind of love and laughter, with Kettleheads turning up from near and far—Belleville, British Columbia, Brussels, and even China! Alongside the far-flung fans was the ever-loyal local crew and a few fresh faces soaking in the vibes for the first time.

Some of the night’s highlights? Fran tore it up on soprano sax, showing off some wild and wonderful new pedal effects, while Lee dropped some killer solos on tenor sax that sent ripples through the crowd. It was a night full of energy, joy, and a whole lot of groove.
