Brass over Tea Kettle

Ahoy, Mateys! Brass over Tea Kettle Fires a Broadside of Tunes at the Marine Museum’s 50th Birthday Bash

Shiver me timbers, what a day it was down at the Marine Museum this past Sunday! The sun blazed like buried treasure, and the salty sea air was filled with the rollickin’ sounds of Brass over Tea Kettle, Kingston’s own merry band of brassy buccaneers. They sailed into port dressed to kill: sailor stripes, snazzy vests and swashbucklin’ garb swanky enough to make Blackbeard trade his cutlass for a catwalk in Milan.

The band hoisted their instruments like swords and unleashed a barrage of tunes strong enough to rattle the mizzenmast! When Hayley Miller bellowed out her mighty vocals, the sound near shook the barnacles off the hull—aye, powerful enough to summon the Kraken from his watery lair! To honour the occasion, the crew even learned the fabled sea shanty “Wellerman,” servin’ up a tune as salty and sweet as a cask o’ rum.

Landlubbers and seadogs alike stuffed their bellies with birthday cake and vittles, celebratin’ the Marine Museum’s 50th voyage ‘round the sun. Some lucky scallywags even clambered aboard the grand S.S. Keewatin for a peek at days when steam ruled the seas.

When the final blast from the brass cannons echoed across the harbour and the last crumb o’ cake was plundered, all agreed: ‘twas a day of jigs, jests, and maritime magic. Here’s to another fifty years on the high seas—may yer sails stay full and yer horns stay brassy!
